Dental veneers are used as a conservative cosmetic treatment modality to alter the shape, size, and colour of your teeth. The type and amount of changes desired will determine how much, if any, of the tooth’s structure will be shaved away, and what type of material will be used to make the veneers. At Dr. Gina Ha & Associates, we offer veneers for North York patients.
Veneers can be made of porcelain or composite resin (white filling material). Porcelain veneers are made in a dental laboratory and therefore will cost more and will require multiple appointments. Patients must wear temporary veneers until the final veneers are ready to be cemented in several weeks. Because porcelain’s surface is very smooth and natural looking, you can achieve a great, long-lasting esthetic result with porcelain veneers.
Composite resin veneers are done by bonding white filling materials onto the tooth surface. In can be done in 1 appointment, and since no dental laboratory work is involved, the cost is less than porcelain veneers. Composite resin surfaces, over time, can become worn down and stained. They may therefore need more frequent touch-ups and repairs.
