Gum Contouring

Gum contouring is a procedure where the gum line is shaped and contoured to provide a better appearance.

If you have larger than average gums, your teeth might appear smaller. This can make your smile ‘gummy’ and less appealing. It might even make you feel self-conscious. If you have longer gums making your teeth appear stubby, gum contouring offers a permanent solution.

At Dr. Gina Ha & associates, we offer gum contouring treatments for patients who have a variety of gum issues. In some cases, gums may not be even across all teeth, and this procedure helps to provide a more even smile.

Gum Contouring Procedure and Results

If your smile appears uneven or if you’re uncomfortable with the amount of gums visible when you show a full smile, gum contouring may be an option.

At Dr. Gina Ha & Associates, we complete a full examination to determine whether this procedure will be a good option to give you the aesthetics you desire. The physiology of your teeth and gum line is unique to you. Our initial consultation focuses on the amount of gum that can be contoured without exposing your roots. On the initial consultation, we can explain what your smile would look like after the procedure. Gum contouring can result in a much improved appearance.

The procedure takes place in the office using a local anesthetic for most patients. There is relatively little discomfort after the procedure and the tissue heals fairly quickly.
