Crowns & Bridges

Crowns and bridges are excellent options to save your smile. A bridge offers a way to replace a missing tooth (or several missing teeth) when an implant isn’t possible. The bridge is permanently fixed in place using the teeth on either side of the space to anchor it. There are several choices in material that can be used to match the color of existing teeth and provide long-term value. Crowns are coverings for damaged teeth, such as a tooth that has had a root canal. Crowns protect the damaged tooth from further breakage and improve any flaws in appearance, such as shape and color.

Are you missing one or several teeth? Are some of your teeth damaged and embarrassing? If you have gaps in your smile or teeth that don’t need to be removed but are flawed in appearance, crowns and bridges can provide a great solution for your smile.

At Dr. Gina Ha & Associates, we work with patients who need replacement teeth on a regular basis. Our recommendations are unique to each patient’s needs and lifestyle to help them achieve the healthiest smile possible for a lifetime.

Why Crowns and Bridges Are Recommended

When you lose a tooth or several teeth, the damage doesn’t stop with the tooth that is missing. The teeth on either side of the one that’s absent can shift into that space. This situation causes more tooth decay and can damage the bite, which can lead to other issues. The optimal solution is to replace teeth that are missing. At Dr. Gina Ha & Associates, we often recommend a bridge when a tooth implant is not possible.

When creating a bridge, the tooth on either side of the space will be used as an anchor for the bridge. To accomplish this, we reduce the size of the tooth and take a mould to create a perfect covering. The same process that is used to create a crown. From that mould, the bridge and anchor tooth crowns are created to fit exactly onto the anchor teeth. In both of these processes, different materials can be chosen to match the colour of surrounding teeth.

Crowns are used to cover teeth that are damaged. They can also be used to simply improve the look of teeth that are badly formed or discolored.
